2013 Season - Pre Season Guide

We are exactly one month from the 2013 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS Headquarters from 6pm on Sunday September 1st. It will be followed by a sumptuous banquet provided by Cheryl, all are welcome however it seems very few will be present due to work and holidays. I’m starting to believe the internet was invented to enable the BUMS to draft. Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all the players 2012 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. Wayne is paying former Arizona Running Back Beanie Wells $1m this year and so has a $9m budget to spend on his eight players. He gets a supplemental draft pick at the end of round 5. Big names who are available include Quarterbacks Sam Bradford, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Joe Flacco; Running Backs Arian Foster and BenJarvis Green Ellis & Receivers Calvin Johnson, Hakeem Nicks and Mike Williams as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 27 rookies - see the rookie report attached. The player pool is based on the depth charts listed by Ourlads last Monday and the rankings from www.FantasyPros.com. To be honest he might be only person with Chief and Cheryl at the draft due to work and holidays! Draft Order and Franchise Players We pick in reverse points order from last years final tables so Dave G has the first pick in the draft and Daz the final choice. Aaron selects before George as although they were tied on points Aaron won the tie-breaker (most points in the play-offs). That tie-breaker also won Aaron his first BUMS Trophy as he beat George as the 2012 Conference Champion. The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are attached. As mentioned Wayne will pick at the end of the 5th round as he cut his 2013-14 Franchise man. In his annual re-naming, David S changes the Karori Killer Kiwis to the Aotearoa Maori Bro’s, he’ll have to explain that one to you. Trading DaysYou will have the usual two opportunities to make changes. Trading Day 1 will be at HQ from 3pm on Sunday 20th October before week 7’s games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 17th November before week 11. Season Kick-Off Game The first game of the season (Ravens @ Broncos) is on Wednesday September 5th. Sky should show the game live in the early hours of Thursday and we’ll get together later that evening to watch it. Venue to be confirmed. Don’t forget to let me know how you intend to draft.
